The Phases of Meiois 3D model project reflection

Model Key:

A. What is your overall reaction to this project?

I actually really enjoyed this project. I enjoyed making the 3D models, I enjoyed making the father and mother chromosomes on toothpicks, I enjoyed using the hot glue gun, and I also enjoyed the amount of time this project took. I enjoyed making the 3D models because it was fun, it made me be creative (putting the chromosomes on toothpicks to make it "3D"), it was easy. I enjoyed how long this project took because I thought it would take 3-5 hours but it took Michelle and I 2 hours with a glue gun, some pipe cleaners, toothpicks, paper, and styrafoam balls.

B. Did this project help you learn the phases of meiosis? Why or Why not?

This project didnt help me learn the phases of meiois but it did better my understanding. The one way it bettered my understanding is it gave me a crystal clear picture. Now I can identify The difference between Mitosis, Meiosis, and Meiosis 2. The one reason it didn't help me is I already new the differences (this just enhanced them). The things I needed help was when crossing over takes place, what a tetrad is, and when it is chromatid, chromosome, or a chromatin.

C. If you had to complete this project again, what would you do differently?

The one thing I would do differently is get bigger styraphome models. The one's Michelle and I used had a diameter of about 4 inches. If we had used bigger models it wouldn't have been as compact, it could've been layed out and have a greater organization.
